Hey everybody

Again it’s been a while since I blogged here the last time, and again it is time for a little update. What happened in the last weeks… well, actually it’s been a bit quieter than usual. I finished some university classes, wrote some new material you’ll soon get to hear, we rehearsed new stuff, started recording demos again for the next album… As you might have read the official album release has been delayed to April. Never the less you will be able to get the album at shows, the first load of records (edition1 so to say) will arrive in a couple of weeks, and we all can not wait to hold the album in our hands. I know it might take a little longer than expected, but we’re almost there, really.

It’s great fun to me these days writing new stuff, I’m in the middle of a pretty creative phase it seems, I’m having shitloads of fun sitting in a room alone and play guitar, scribbling words on sheets of paper.

I’m looking forward to March, where the first gigs are going to take place, and so is the band.

so much for today – see you all soon
Yours

RECORD LABEL, DISTRIBUTION, COMPANY

As we are moving towards the release date slow but, to say it with a line from Mr. Dave Matthews, speeding, it’s about time to announce some details that have been cookin’ under the surface some time now. What happens from now on, happens in cooperation with a management, a record label and a distribution company. The album “And Off They Roared Into The Night” will be released via the newly founded label ii-Records and be distributed by Warner Music. It will be released in several European countries which I will announce some other time in detail. I am also pleased to announce that I signed with K&D Management, who will take care of things from now on…

that’s about it for today – if you’re in Vienna don’t forget the 16th of December, otherwise see you some other time, soon Bodhii

WORKING ON NEW STUFF

We recently started working on new material, as we’ve been occupied with the eleven album songs for quite a while now (remember we were almost there and then decided to re-record everything again) – in particular we’re working on a song under the working title “Aurora” – and not only do we heavily enjoy playing that song and working on it (as we think it will come across quite killer live), but also it’s a good and fresh and enthusiastic feel anyways to work on new stuff again… our new man on bass, Georg, so far brought a lot of fresh input into the whole thing and we all really enjoy working with him… “Aurora” is a song that was discussed to appear as a solo/acoustic song on the album (I started writing it mid-summer), but then – due to being not finished and Nikola suggesting to save it for a full-band version – did not (there’s CUBISM TO ME that’s almost solo/acoustic instead)... it’s a moody, dynamic song and you will for sure hear it if you decide to join us some night, and we damn sure hope you’ll do…

IT'S BEEN A WHILE...

It’s been a while since I’ve updated this here, and I’m sorry for that – so what happened in the meantime? After we finished the recordings, everybody took some time off – it had been a lot of work and lot of things happening, and everybody needed to relax a little. I went home to spend some days with my parents who I hadn’t seen for a while, met some good ol’ mates of mine, stuff like that; everyone of the band did some things that we didn’t have the time for the last months. It was a pretty intense year so far and it felt good to get a clear hand on things a little bit. As there happened to be a change in the band’s line-up, we spend some days looking for somebody to join us on the bass then, and after we found that someone – Georg Kostron, a great bass-player and the fourth guy in the band with a conservatory-background (that leaves me as the only one in this band who does not or has not studied his instrument) – well, to get back to the main sentence, after we asked Georg to join us for the tour, we started to rehearse again – after those month in the studio, it was quite nice just to stand there and play together) and we started working on live arrangements…

As you’ve probably read on the News section of this page, the album release will be delayed a bit – the album will be officially released in January, but probably you’ll already get it at our shows in December. Due to the delay, we’re not sure about the release-party.

Besides the whole thing, I’m planning also to play some solo-shows again, which I haven’t done for quite a while. I’m working on a bunch of new songs – some of them will perhaps already be roadtested in December with the band, some I might try out on solo-occasions.

This homepage will be regularly updated now, there’s a new song called “Short Story No.1” in the player (which is new too, an extern player instead of an imbedded one), and soon you’ll get to hear a glimpse of every song, to tease you a little bit :) –

Anyways, that’s it for today
I hope you are all having a good time and I’ll see you soon

Yours
Bodhii

IT'S ALL IN THE MIX!

it’s all in the mix, that’s what it is… tonight the final version of the liner notes, lyrics and other booklet stuff will go out, what had to be sung is on disk now, and Philip has already moved like a nomad from one studio to another and is workingworkingworking while your lazy friend here is sitting at home writing these lines enjoying a cold pint… anyways, this phase of work is kind of weird, it’s still a bit of work to do, minor corrections here and there, it’s like writing a final exam and proof-reading it once again, adding/changing words here and there. Though I guess I’ve never put this much effort in writing an exam as we’ve all put in this piece of music -well, good for the music, bad for my university-career. Joking.

So here I am, thinking and thinking and thinking about the song order. What will kick it off, what will close it. Everyone who has once made a mixtape can imagine how tricky that one is (those of you who read “High Fidelity” by Nick Hornby will know even better). There are just so many different possibilities that give the picture a completely different color… thank God I’m already sure about most parts!

Talk to you soon

NIKI'S TURN...

Now that the basic tracks are done, Nikola is doing the electric guitar parts. “Maikl Pareila”, as insiders like to call him, had a really good, creative day yesterday, and it was fun watching/listening to it. So far he has done “Maritime” (the long, non-video version), “Shoreline Fandango”, “Off They Roared…” and “St. Dean’s Parade”. Boy, “St. Dean’s Parade”, I’m glad we re-vived this one (we had played it for a while but then somehow did not continue working on it/playing it). When I started writing that song, a little more than a year ago, I was really thrilled about it, writing it just felt good, it was a bit like being in love, I thought about it all the time and barely could draw attention to something else… so I’m glad the song made it, really means a lot to me, both musically and lyrically. Okay, enough chitter-chatter about it :)

Today studio-time starts a little later, early afternoon, again it’s on Mr. Paryla. Soon I’ll be doing the vocals, then all kinds of overdub thingies and then the tracks will go into another studio, the Sunshine studio, where they will be mixed. The artwork will pretty soon be finished, and if it turns out to be the way it seems to, it will be great. I’ll still keep that secret a bit, but one thing: it’s going to be a quite handsome digi-pack and not a regular-jewel case… hell yeah, and after it’s mixed, out of our hands with it!

I really have to watch some LOST now. After recovering from a “Scrubs”-Addiction (that reached it’s peak on our journey to Kiev where I spend most of my freetime in front of my laptop watching it) that’s my new one. Recording an album and watching Lost. That’s it. :)

Soon
B.

i’m a bit too tired to write a lot right now, but everything’s fine in the studio, the cover artwork is going to be kick ass, so will the album do, Philip Staufer has patience like a yogi and everybody at least most of us in the band loves the song “Umbrella” by Rihanna. After recording my tracks today I deserve a beer. Heading out, roaring off…

and singing:
Umbrella, ella, ella, ey, ey…

DOG DAY THOUGHTS...

We are just having a few day-offs from the studio, living through mere dog days (it’s so damn hot I wish I’d have an ocean outside my door, which is obviously not the case in a middle-European city). At the moment I am finishing working on an acoustic track for the album, a yet untitled one.

The album will be called “And Off They Roared Into The Night”, which is a bit of a reference to Kerouac’s “On The Road”, it’s also the title of a song on the album… to me the album is like a little adventurebook, stories about coincidences, journeys, secret places, departure, love…
The music will be really a good blend of everything we like, that’s why to me it’s such fun making it… there’ll be groovy pop tunes on it, acoustic folky things, atmospheric things, little electronic candies might pop up every here and there, hell there’s even going to be a song with a Clash-vibe on it.

Monday the recording process carries on, in the meanwhile Nikola, Andi and me are preparing for the tracks to come… more on Monday!

hothothohot!

Bodhii
